Remot collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no servers. There is no account to create and no analytics of any kind.

What the app does with your data

Remot runs entirely on your own computer and your own network. Your phone talks to your PC directly over your Wi-Fi. No data passes through any service operated by us or by anyone else, because no such service exists.

What is stored, and where

All of it stays on your PC. None of it leaves your device.

• Pairing details — a randomly generated PIN, and a one-way hash of the access token for each phone you have paired. The tokens themselves are stored only in your phone's browser.
• Your settings — such as the port the app listens on.
• A log of errors, written only when something goes wrong, to help diagnose it. It contains no personal information.

Information the app can read while you use it

To do its job, Remot reads some information from your PC and shows it on your phone. This is read live, shown to you, and never stored or transmitted anywhere else:

• Performance figures — processor, memory, disk, network and graphics activity.
• Which applications are playing audio, and their volume levels.
• What is currently playing — track, artist, album and cover art.
• Your monitors, and the inputs they support.
• Your clipboard, so that text copied on the PC can be read on your phone, and text sent from your phone can be pasted on the PC. This is shown only to devices you have paired.
• A picture of your screen, but only at the moment you press “Peek at the screen” on a paired phone. Nothing is captured at any other time, the picture is sent only to the phone that asked for it, and no copy is kept on the PC or anywhere else. There is no continuous screen sharing in Remot, by design.

Permissions the app needs

• Access to your local network, to receive connections from your phone. The app listens only on your private network and is not reachable from the internet.
• Control of audio, displays and power, which is the purpose of the app.

Who can connect

Only devices you pair, either by scanning the code shown on your PC or by entering the PIN. You can remove all paired devices at any time, which forces every phone to pair again.

Children

Remot is a utility for controlling your own computer. It is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Removing your data

Uninstalling Remot offers to delete its settings and pairings. You can also delete them yourself at any time by removing the pc-remote folder in your application data directory.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date above. Since the app collects nothing, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a change in practice.
